Odds and Ends

I've still not gotten my computer back; no responses to emails. Nothing. As if my computer did not exist. I'm a computer scientist without a computer; what does that make me? A scientist? I'll fight this thing till the end, if I have to.


I've taken rest of week off cause I can't stand to goto work anymore. That happens roughly every 3 weeks for me.

The mouse struck again, this time eating through another guy's oatmeal bag and crapping in the bag. I come in, oatmeal all over and the guy was acting even more surly than usual. Its a good thing I've had the foresight to buy that mouse trap. This promises hours upon hours of entertainment for me.

On Monday, wrote up a little script to generate our meeting bingo cards. Last meeting was almost 3hrs in length and I was ready to chew my own carotids to escape. Instead, I'll just play bingo; make some money out of it. $.50 per card, not a bad deal. Winner-take-all.

To make it less obvious we're playing bingo during the managers' meeting, I've made the cards really small so it looks like a scrap of paper. That was a fun couple of hours.

I'm continually amazed at how awesome ruby is.

And that, ladies and genteelmen, is how you shuffle an array in ruby; essentially a 1-liner. 
Now, I don't quite know how it works; I'd peg it at around 60% magics, 40% skillz.
